From sticking in London traffic to scaling a 10-van fleet remotely, here is how we built the Transfer Edge system.
The Wembley Foundations (2016 - 2020) Our story began in the trenches of one of Wembley's largest removal firms. I worked as an Onsite Surveyor, visiting homes to estimate volumes, while my wife was a top-performing Sales Agent, closing deals over the phone. We learned the trade inside out, but we also saw the inefficiencies. Back then, a "good day" meant fighting through brutal London traffic to complete just 5 or 6 onsite surveys. It was slow, exhausting, and capped our potential.
When COVID-19 hit, physical estimations became impossible overnight. We had two choices: stop working or adapt. We chose to adapt. We transitioned 100% to Video Surveys. What started as a necessity turned into our biggest breakthrough. Without the travel time between properties, we went from doing 6 estimates a day to handling 30+ video surveys and sent quotes daily. We realised the old way wasn't just dangerous; it was obsolete.
In late 2020, a former colleague launched his own removal business with a single van. He had the van; he needed the system. We built his sales infrastructure from scratch. We created manual systems for quotes, confirmations, and invoicing because we couldn't afford a CRM yet. The result? The efficiency of doing 30 quotes a day meant the calendar filled up fast. That single van quickly grew into a fleet of 10 vehicles.
